Wright Lab alumnus Marcelo Araya Salas’ work highlighted by NMSU communications

A well done story by NMSU communications has been published on Wright Lab alum, Marcelo Araya Salas’ latest work on long-billed hermits. Salas aimed to understand why hummingbirds utilize distinct vocal and visual displays to attract a mate, and found that some display characteristics vary between populations. PhD student Grace Smith-Vidaurre also played an instrumental role in data processing by analyzing the 2000+ hours of video for the study.
